When the ladies start laying flat in every corner of the henhouse, we better have an egg stash ready for them. Rookie mistake last year: we ate most of them and realized too late that all the hens were busy laying flat in the nests and not producing any eggs to lay on... Yes, some hens manage to collect a load of eggs to lay on themselves, but chances are that they only wait for the first ones to hatch and leave the rest.
